What Are The Current Abortion Statistics In America?
Abortion
Statistics:
Reported
from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in "Roe:
By Remembering" by Pete Winn and Charles MiVille of Citizenlink:
In 1995, the last year for which statistics were kept:
- 20%
of women who had abortions were in their teens
- 33%
were age 20-24
- 82%
were unmarried or separated
- 43%
of American women will have an abortion in their lifetime
According
to research in The American Journal of Drug and Alcohol Abuse:
- Women
who abort their first pregnancy are 5 times more likely to report
subsequent substance abuse then women who gave birth
- 4
times more likely then women whose pregnancies ended through
miscarriage or stillborn
In
Finland, researchers identified suicide rates among aborted women
were higher (35%) than women who gave birth (6%)
In the U.S. 13 out of 14 studies found that breast cancer among
American women who had abortions reported:
The link between the two is so strong that the New England
Medical Journal of Medicine listed abortion as a risk factor for
breast cancer
article "Post Abortion Cover-up"
by Jenny Tyree from Focus on the Family, Citizen
In
a study of 252 aborted women who suffered psychological problems
after abortions:
- 53%
felt "forced" into the abortion by relatives
- 65%
felt "forced" by circumstances
- 83%
stated they would have kept the pregnancy if they had been encouraged
to do so by one or more persons
- 45%
of women who suffered post-abortion trauma reported they went
to clinic still hoping for a "miracle' option which would
have allowed them to avoid the abortion and/or keep the baby

Abortion
Myth #4- "It's A Woman's Body" from "Abortion
Myths", Crisis Pregnancy Ministry, Focus On The Family:
"True
a woman has a right over her own body; abortion, however involves
another separate living body inside her own:
- At
day 21, the baby inside of her has a beating heart
- At
day 28,the arms, the legs, the eyes, the ears have begun to
grow
- At
day 40, brain waves can be detected and the baby has its own
blood type
